Metroport Rotary looking for moola
Metroport Rotary is auctioning two fiberglass cows Saturday, May 3, as part of their fourth annual Wine Discovery fundraising event. The cows were part of Southlake’s Fiftieth Anniversary Longhorn Stampede Celebration. Both have been on display in Southlake Town Square for the last year.
These colorful bovine works of art will not be sold by the pound, but can be purchased "lock, stock and barrel" by individuals or corporations. Half of the money raised from the steer sales, which have raised as much as $3000 in past auctions, goes to funding scholarships for seniors at Northwest High School and Carroll Senior High School, and the other half will go to the city of Southlake to be put back into the community for public art.
"In addition to that, they have a silent auction and a live auction," said Peggy Rahall, rotary member, as well as wine tasting.
The auction will be held at First American Building in the Solana Complex at the Kirkwood exit off of S.H. 114 in Westlake from 7 p.m. to 10:30. For more information, please contact Bridgett Williams 972-877-5801 or click on their Web site, www.metroport.org.
