Grapevine LASIK Surgeon uses Latest Technology

Dr. Phillips Kirk Labor, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with Eye Consultants of Texas in Grapevine, has performed thousands of refractive surgical procedures including LASIK over his career.

LASIK, laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis, is a procedure in which the cornea of the eye is actually reshaped to accommodate refracted light and improve a patient’s vision. The procedure is highly advanced and can be completed in a single office visit.

In the initial evaluation, Dr. Labor determines if the patient is a good candidate for the elective surgery and outlines the all-laser LASIK process. Once the patient decides to proceed, the Eye Consultants team uses the some of the most precise eye-mapping and shaping equipment on the market today.

On LASIK day, the patient receives a mild anesthetic eyedrop and begins with the Femto LDV, which creates the corneal flap. The LDV laser provides greater accuracy with greater safety when creating the flap than the oscillating blade still used by some surgeons. The next step, reshaping the eye to allows for better refraction. The Visx S4, the most widely-used laser in the US, uses an ultraviolet, Excimer laser to sculpt the cornea in a precise manner.

The VISX S4 has a revolutionary eye-tracking system which counteracts any eye movement during the procedure. Using the latest all-laser vision correction technology, Dr. Labor allows his patients the freedom to see without full-time glasses or contacts. If you would like to know if you qualify for all-laser LASIK, contact Eye Consultants for an initial consultation.
