I’d like to point out that the article about Marshall Creek street problems neglected to mention the fact that the city of Roanoke assumed Marshall Creek’s $300,000 debt.
Dear Editor:
I just finished reviewing The Haslet Harbinger dated June 27, 2008. The headline on the front page mentions Trophy Club, the next article points out Westlake, below that Justin is noted, and at the bottom of the page is an article titled, Friends Raising Funds; next to it Roanoke is called out. The front page Friends Raising Funds article is about the Haslet Library, but does not mention Haslet by name in the title as the other towns received. There was also an article regarding a Haslet picnic on page twelve.Last week’s edition incorrectly reported Haslet’s cleanup day as May 19 and the council meeting as May 17. The cleanup day is May 17, and the council meeting is May 19. Alliance News regrets the error.
Correction
The Trophy Club Fire Station, which houses the full-time fire and EMS personnel, needs to be replaced. And, it can be done without increased fire taxes for MUD 1 residents.
In 2004, Trophy Club adopted a Home Rule Charter. The town council has appointed a commission to review the charter and to make recommendations, where appropriate, that will help protect or enhance the rights and powers of all Trophy Club residents. The commission meets each Monday at 4:15 p.m. in the Public Services Conference Room.
The article on the Justin city council meeting in last week’s issue incorrectly stated the vote on the specific use permit for a snow cone stand was unanimous. The vote was actually four in favor, one opposed; Councilman Greg Scott cast the dissenting vote.
Editor:
The Taxpayer Watch Committee recently sent a memo to Trophy Club residents regarding possible ways for the town to lower the tax on the citizens. In this case it is a study to determine if the MUDs should be part of the town operation and NOT stand alone entities. Let me tell you why I think this is a good idea.Alliance news welcomes the public’s submissions. A growing number of Westlake residents are questioning the truthfulness and wisdom of town leaders when they tell us they have a “plan” for financing and building the proposed school arts and sciences building they insist on calling a “civic center.”
