Northwest Alliance All-Stars Are District Champs

The Northwest Alliance All-Star Mustangs went undefeated at the 10U All-Star Baseball tournament July 2-5 in Southlake.

The Mustangs defeated the Southlake Dragons, 21-14; the Haltom Buffaloes, 18-3; and came from behind to beat the North East Optimist All Stars by a 9-8 final in the championship. The win advanced the Mustangs to sectional play.

Team members include Cole Smith, Blake Ibarra, Braden Funderburg, Austin Whitelock, Cameron Moore, Nathanial Polizzo, Matt Wilson, Chance Cooper, Garrett Moltzan, Garrett Barnes, Blake Ross and Matt Musgrove. The Mustangs are coached by Doug Barnes, Jeff Ross and Sean Lacroix.

Tryouts for 14U Baseball Team

The 14-and-under Texas Sting Baseball Club in Haslet will be having open tryouts in August.

The majority of tournaments in which the Sting will compete will feature regulation-size baseball diamonds (90-foot basepaths).

Stix Have Great Showing in Omaha

The Texas Stix 10U Major baseball club recently competed in the annual Slump Buster Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, where it won the tournament championship.

There were a total of 246 teams from 9U to 14U from across the country that competed in the tournament.

The Stix went 3-0 in pool play, and then defeated the Colorado Bulldogs 9-4 to advance to the finals, where they beat the Omaha Pacesetters 7-5 to give the Texas team the tournament championship.

According to a news release, "the Stix also competed in the Skills competition consisting of four events," and took first place in three of the events and finished in first place overall.

Team members include Dustin May, Josh Lindquist, Cade Varrichio, Trevor Jurecka, Bailey Champagne, Preston Haire, Cooper Warne, Gabriel Luna, Anthony Savera, Joe Greutman and Brandon Torres.

The team is coached by David House, Jimi Haire, Bubba Jurecka, Austin Warne and Danny May.

Alliance Community Fellowship Welcomes Upward Soccer

Alliance Community Fellowship Church will offer an Upward Soccer League this September, which is open to boys and girls from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

According to a news release, "upward soccer provides an affordable, uplifting, and unique soccer experience for children and their families ... in addition to soccer skills, each child will be taught valuable life lessons, such as sportsmanship, positive decision-making and hard work."

Registration is $75 per player, and all athletes are required to attend an evaluation session on July 26.

ACF has six fully-sodded, lighted and irrigated soccer fields on the church premises.
